A Cops and Robbers Birthday Party at Kitchener Public Library

For Remy’s sixth birthday, we transformed the Reading Lounge at Kitchener Public Library into a playful cops and robbers adventure. Blue, black, white and grey décor filled the bright, open venue, with custom backdrops, organic balloon installations, police car balloons and themed props creating a celebration that felt exciting from every angle. A Police-Themed Welcome for Remy’s Birthday

We welcomed guests with a personalized sign created for Remy’s sixth birthday. The display featured police-inspired graphics, a bright balloon arrangement and yellow caution tape woven through the design.

Canvas money bags, play cash and themed accents around the base turned the entrance into the first scene of the party. The combination of bright blue, pale blue, white and black established the colour palette used throughout the venue.

Transforming the Reading Lounge at Kitchener Public Library

The Reading Lounge at Kitchener Public Library gave us a spacious and unexpected setting for this themed birthday party. Rather than concentrating every detail in one corner, we styled the room so the celebration carried through the seating areas and remained visible across the venue.

Helium bouquets in coordinated colours rose above the lounge furniture, several topped with oversized police car balloons. Small themed accents on the tables helped connect the comfortable library setting to the larger décor story.

A Custom Police Chase Birthday Backdrop

The main focal point combined several surfaces and layered details to create the feeling of a playful police pursuit. A blue cityscape panel, a bold blue backdrop and a black shimmer wall gave the display contrast and depth.

At the centre, a personalized birthday badge identified Remy and his age. A robber cutout, police car cutout, money bags and scattered play cash completed the chase scene across the front of the installation.

Organic Balloon Décor in Blue, Black and White

Large organic balloon installations framed the backdrop and gave the design the scale needed for the tall library space. Different balloon sizes added movement, while checkered starburst accents and caution tape reinforced the action-filled theme.

The Custom Kid Jail Photo Area

The custom Kid Jail gave the children an interactive place to pose and become part of the party story. Black bars and a working door created the jail structure, while balloon clusters, money bags and police-themed details tied it back to the rest of the room.

This feature added more than another backdrop. It encouraged play, gave families a memorable photo opportunity and helped the theme feel immersive for the young guests.

Client-Provided Activities Completed the Theme

The client provided additional themed activities and take-home items for the children, including evidence-style loot bags, a badge activity and personalized police hats. These thoughtful additions supported the cops and robbers concept and gave the guests more ways to participate in the celebration.
