Meet Pawel Rzeznik: The Creative Director Behind Productions and Events

Hi, I’m Pawel Rzeznik, the owner and creative director of Productions and Events, an event décor and rental company based in Kitchener, Ontario. We create custom balloon installations, backdrops, signage, floral accents, rentals, and complete event styling throughout Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, and Southern Ontario.

Before Productions and Events became a business, it started with something simple. I loved decorating, working with colour, and finding creative ways to make an ordinary space feel completely different.

How Productions and Events Started

I was born and raised in Guelph, Ontario, and I have always been drawn to interior design, event décor, colour, and the small details that change how a room feels. I enjoy taking an idea, figuring out how to build it, and turning it into something people can experience in person.

In February 2022, I officially started Productions and Events. My goal was to build more than a standard party decorating company. I wanted clients to have one creative partner who could bring together balloons, backdrops, signage, florals, rentals, and complete styling in a cohesive way.

What began as a passion for decorating has grown into a full-service event décor company. Today, we work on intimate birthdays and baby showers, weddings, corporate events, community festivals, brand activations, and large-scale balloon installations.

My Approach to Event Design

One of my favourite parts of this work is walking into a blank space. A hall, restaurant, backyard, conference room, storefront, or wedding venue may look ordinary when we arrive, but by the time we finish, it can feel like an entirely different place.

I never look at a backdrop or balloon garland in isolation. I consider the full room, where guests will enter, what they will notice first, where photographs will be taken, and how each decorative element connects to the next.

The scale of the balloons, the placement of florals, the height of a backdrop, the style of the signage, and even the open space around a display all affect the finished result. My goal is to create designs that feel balanced, intentional, and specific to the event.

More Than Balloon Décor

Balloons are a major part of what we do, but Productions and Events is about creating complete environments. A project may combine an organic balloon installation with custom structures, signage, florals, plinths, lighting, or coordinated rentals. For a corporate event, it may mean building a branded photo area that looks polished both in person and on camera.

I enjoy working across very different styles. Some clients want bright, playful colour. Others prefer something elegant, romantic, modern, or refined. Rather than repeating the same design, I want every event to have its own personality.

Clients often begin with a colour palette, reference photograph, theme, or general feeling. From there, I help shape the concept, recommend the elements that will work best, and make sure the design fits the venue and the overall budget.

The Work Behind Every Event

Most people see the final installation, but much of the work happens before event day. Each project can involve design planning, sourcing, balloon preparation, signage production, custom fabrication, rental organization, loading, travel, installation, and later takedown.

As creative director, I stay involved throughout the process. I develop the initial design, plan the layout, choose materials and colours, oversee production, and make sure the completed setup reflects what we discussed with the client.

Event spaces are not always straightforward. Weather, venue restrictions, short installation windows, and unexpected site conditions can all require quick decisions. Creativity matters, but organization, flexibility, and preparation are just as important.

Creating Events That Feel Personal

The best events are not always the largest. What makes a celebration memorable is often the connection between the design and the people being celebrated.

A favourite colour, cultural detail, meaningful theme, business logo, family tradition, or small personal reference can turn décor into a genuine experience. I enjoy learning what matters to each client and finding a refined way to include those details.

Continuing to Grow and Create

Since starting Productions and Events in 2022, I have had the opportunity to create celebrations and installations throughout Kitchener-Waterloo and Southern Ontario. The company continues to grow, and so does the range of work we can offer.

I am always exploring new techniques, adding rentals, developing custom structures, and improving the client experience. My aim is to innovate, educate, and elevate professional event décor while remaining personally involved in the work.
